Most people do not like to hear the word “no”, but it is more acceptable or should I say tolerated if it is said by someone you work with who has the reputation for being a credible communicator. People respect people who developed the fortitude to say “no” when it’s the right answer, even though it may not be the popular one. Again, in the workplace there are all kinds of people and many different temperaments and lots and lots of attitude. Life would be great if we could get a “yes” answer to every request we received, but the reality is we can’t agree with something that is wrong or not in the best interest of the organization and for the greater good. Even though you may not want to say “no”, but have to say “no”, you will be respected for your reasons for saying it.
