
Recently online partners have become rivals gearing up for this holiday season battling for consumers dollars for toys. Presently Amazon.com and Toysrus.com have cut off ties, yet Toysrus.com launched its own independent web site in July and teamed up with logistics expert Excel and e-commerce expert GSI Commerce Inc. in May to boost its toysru.com and babiesrus.com sites. Whether or not this was a wise strategic marketing move to split hairs now has yet to be determined because the competition will be stiff. Each will have to compete for consumers’ dollars with online auction house eBay Inc., and target.com and walmart.com, both of which are going to be aggressive with discounting. The results shall be interesting to watch to see who this marketing move benefited the most.
