A discussion about business and marketing communications (or marcom).

A power position is apparently the position in the center of a rectangle table and is facing the door.  I would imagine that the power comes from seeing who is coming and going in and out of the meeting.  I could see how that would give the speaker authority.  It would allow the speaker to control the atmosphere or tone of the meeting.  The business etiquette expert gives an example of where the president of the sits or stands.  I am not sure if he has control, but I can see some validation in this position.  And apparently the second most important position is sitting to the person’s right.  I never would have thought that so much effort and thought went into the business seating arrangements.
