I never really experienced the hat being passed around the office when I worked in a traditional work environment, but my husband on the other hand was giving it seems every time payday rolled around. It was always a birthday, Boy or Girl Scout sale of cookies (Lemon Coolers are my favorite) or popcorn, the company’s charity or a special collection for some one just because. Don’t get me wrong, I am a giver and I give big, but where do you draw the line? Should someone feel bad because they don’t give or can’t give? No one should feel like they have to give in every situation or even any situation. My suggestion, always make giving optional and anonymous. Besides, let people give according to what works best for them and their situation, which by the way, no one knows but them.
