If you didn’t know, the long time Marshall Field’s, a historic Chicago department store lost its infamous name and became Macy’s.   Macy’s is a famous New York department store and has been seeking a way to win over the Chicago shoppers mourning the lost of their beloved Marshall Field’s department store that had been anchor for shopping in Chicago for over a century.  On Saturday morning, Macy’s opened its doors to shoppers giving away gift cards.  I blogged about making prize giveaways a marketing strategy in ‘Marketing Strategy: Prize Giveaway’ in an effort to get business owners to think out of the box and to really capitalize on marketing that can grow their business.  I believe this marketing strategy by Macy’s won over the disappointed Marshall Field’s customers.  Welcome Macy’s!
