Office parties should be viewed as an extension of the office; it’s considered a business function and should not be mistaken for anything other than that.   More times than not, employees mistakenly take the opportunity to become too familiar with the boss and co-workers.  Even though the office party may not be a business event that has a social context, your behavior will be observed and considered when other business social events are scheduled.  Whether attending social events, business meetings or casual events, the way you handle yourself reflects positively or negatively on you and your organization.  You can never be too cautious in putting your best foot forward.  Let this be a time of enjoyment and getting to know people better.
