As in any business environment, exercising basic business etiquette is the key to making for a productive workspace. One thing to keep in mind is respecting the other person’s workspace because you’re sharing the same space. Respect will go a long way in keeping the peace and being good neighbors. Just use common courtesy, things like taking your cell phone to lunch with you and leaving your answering machine on. Your neighbor should not have to be responsible for answering your phone. Go light on the cologne or perfume, it may smell great to you, but could be offensive to your neighbor. Don’t use noisy screen savers and don’t blast your music to interrupt others. And at all cost, keep any private conversations you overhear confidential. Sharing other people’s conversations (gossiping) is not a good thing.
