There’s a language that speaks loud and clear when arranging seating for business meetings. When I came across this article, I was surprised and I wondered how many professionals really applied this particular etiquette when it came to the seating arrangements in their business meetings and how much of a difference it makes. So the cooperative position is next to the person calling the meeting. This position is supposedly recommended for business acquaintances and not for meeting the person the first time. Can you imagine telling someone, “no you can’t sit here; h/she will loose control of the meeting?” What kind of etiquette covers that? But, that’s not all. The most competitive position to the person calling the meeting is directly across from that person. I like that position because it allows me to look directly into that person eyes. I had no idea I was being competitive.
