Since we’re on the subject of business etiquette, I could not pass up the opportunity to talk about office etiquette.   What is the proper etiquette for flirting in the workplace?  Depending upon your definition of flirting, it can mean different things to different people.  I think flirting is still a very broad undefined area in many workplaces, even though most organizations have rules and guidelines in place because of the sexual harassment.  Someone may consider being too friendly and overly chatty as flirting, while another may think that touching their person is grounds for filing a sexual harassment complaint.  A simple compliment on the way someone looks or what they’re wearing may be considered offensive.  So because people are so different and have varying background and beliefs, I say it’s safe to always behave in the workplace using professional business etiquette.  When in doubt, don’t.
