I came across this article by JoAnna Brandi, 9 Ways to Keep Employees Engaged. Since I’m always talking about customer service and how you can make it better in your business, I thought I would share this with you. She made some valid points that I think every business should consider. It is important to be able to identify a problem and find the solution to fix it. She referred to the fact that business owners who aren’t taking care of their employees are missing out on some significant cost-savings and profits. She listed nine ways to keep employees engaged:
1. Let go of any negative opinions you may have about your employee.
2. Make sure your employees have everything they need to do their jobs.
3. Clearly communicate what’s expected of employees, what the company values and vision are, and how the company defines success.
4. Get to know your employees, especially their goals, their stressors, what excites them and how they each define success.
5. Make sure they’re trained—and retrained—in problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
6. Constantly ask how you’re doing in your employees’ eyes.
7. Pay attention to company stories and rituals.
8. Reward and recognize employees in ways that are meaningful to them.
9. Be consistent for the long haul.
These are some invaluable tips, I’ve only listed the tips, to get an explanation of the benefits, check out the article. I think it’s worth your time and money to do so.
