Business Seating Has a Language?

Yes Virginia , according to Business Etiquette Expert Lillian D. Biorseth, there is a language of seating in business seating arrangements.  She contends that where you seat people can affect the outcome of a communication meeting.  I must admit that I had not really considered that the way people are arranged around a table or in a row could affect the success of failure of that gathering, but apparently you can create an illusion of power or equality in your relationship-building efforts by where you sit and where you seat others.  I recall going to business meetings and it never was a consideration, everyone just sit where there was an empty chair, and that may very well have been the reason for ineffectiveness of the meeting; who knew.
