Here are some tips to writing your best press releases:
- Press releases are utilized to spread the news. Let your business become the news. Find a way to tie your business into the news.
- Do some research and get a captivating headline that will draw the readers.
- In the first paragraph state a problem that your product or service can solve. Use the five “W’s” and how to accomplish this. First paragraph is the “why”.
- In the next few paragraphs incorporate the “what” and “who” to solve the problem and in the last paragraph use “when” and “where”.
- Keep it short and concise. Provide contact information on top and bottom of release.
- Keep the release fact-based. Don’t advertise.
- Use short quotes that evoke an emotion about your product or service.
- Do not make your press release more than one page and follow proper format for writing press releases—remember your business is becoming news.
- Include at the bottom of your release details about your company. Don’t forget to provide a link to your website.
- Finally, find out the right person in the editing department that addresses your subject. Submit press release according to their guidelines.
