I pose a question to my audience. But before I ask the question, let me give you the background from which the question arose. I was the Board Chair of a board of directors for a school, all board members were professionals. I would send out correspondence to board members via e-mail and follow up with a phone call. I almost never talked to anyone, but left detailed messages. I would get 100 per cent participation from two (2) members all the time. However, from the other two members I never received a reply back from emails or phone messages left. This went on for about three months. Oh yea, it was a volunteer position. Eventually, the three board members could not accomplish the projected goals alone, so I resigned and everything kind of fell apart. I could not afford to devote time to trying to accomplish something that I knew we could not accomplish. So my question is—where do you think the breakdown in communication happened?
