Now here’s a customer benefit, although it’s not what these restaurants marketing experts intended. I do however; think this strategy will help, but not enough to recover losses in 2006. Outback Steakhouse, Applebee’s and T.G.I. Friday’s are considered casual restaurants, you know, casual dining. This is the marketing plan- Beginning in November; Outback plans to cut prices across its menu, ribs, side salads, appetizers and drinks. They’re really serious! Applebee’s has a three-course “Southwest Fiesta” promotion (appetizer, entrée and dessert) for $9.99 and they will be announcing the hiring of Food Network chef Tyler Florence to create four “fresh” entrees, which he calls quality cuisine at value prices. Check out what other restaurants are doing to get you back to the tables opening your mouth and wallet at the same time. The plan is to take a loss to gain.
