Earlier in the summer, MySpace was reported on the national news because of its use by younger internet visitors. MySpace let its users build free profile pages that were typically filled with personal information and photos. According to Nielsen/NetRatings, it drew 46 million visitors. These kinds of numbers drew increased marketing interest. Remember I talked about leverage; well this is how it works. Because of the number of visitors, Burger King has a MySpace page for its Burger “King.” Columbia Pictures posted a profile for a fictional NASCAR racer. These are paid advertising profiles on MySpace. There are other companies posting free profiles, like Volkswagen. Have you checked out MySpace lately? What about your company’s profile?
