An 800# Says So Much More Than "Call This Business For Free"
It goes without saying that if you want someone to contact you in business, you need to look like you’re worth it and you need to make it easy. People have many options and you’ll only get a second or two to catch the attention of a potential customer or partner. That’s why I’m a fan of toll free numbers.

Depending upon your business, many people may just notice (and have a positive reaction) that you have one, and not even call it – they’ll just use their unlimited long distance on their landline or their cell and call your regular number. For others it immediately removes the barrier from calling you.

After reviewing my options, I chose the service from KALL8.   I’ll admit I wanted the number as much for marketing purposes as for the utility. I don’t expect a huge volume of calls, and wanted a plain, basic, economical service with few bells and whistles. I was amazed that I got it for a $5 one-time activation fee, $5 per month and 6.9 cents per minute for incoming calls. And the service is hardly stripped down.   Features such as custom call routing, call notification emails, and emailed faxes. The account can even be managed by cell phone or PDA.

Ring Central also has a full featured product for as low as $9.95 per month, and it includes 100 free minutes.

Once you have a toll-free number, you can transfer your number to another service, often with no activation fee.   As you progress, you can add enhanced services for additional set-up charges and/or fees – including connection via VIOP, virtual PBX, call announcement and address look-up. A service for your customers, and marketing for you, and you can get started for the price of a few lattes. A no-brainer, as I see it.
